Ghost Hunting in Port Townsend & The Palace Hotel

Hi gang! The Ghostly Activities Club went to investigate a haunted hotel and take in the ghostly sights in Port Townsend earlier in the week. Check out the adventure after the jump.

A Very Haunted Hotel, The Palace Hotel on Water Street

The Haunted Rooms

6 club members stayed in The Palace Hotel, and a few of us picked haunted rooms. That doesn’t mean we woke up to apparitions and demons trying to eat our souls. BUT … a few of us did have experiences.

Let’s get the spectral scoop on our rooms:

The Ghost Hunt

For the ghost hunt, the team included:

  • Melissa (Haunted Historian)
  • Mike (Lead Investigator)
  • Amy (Investigator)
  • Kim (Host … more on that in a minute)
  • Christel (Production Assistant)
  • Jake (Documentarian)

Now for the host part: Kim participated as our MC and guide for the filmed elements. While she did investigate, it was off-camera. For this episode of Our Haunted Heritage, Jake wanted to change things up from previous documentaries and try a new element for the Web series.

As for the equipment, the team did use some new gadgets (imported stuff at that!), which included:

  • Spirit Chat 4.0
  • Ovilus
  • Spirit Stick
  • Spirit Candle
  • Paranormal Tripwire
  • Dead Bell 2.0
  • SLS Mini
  • Onvoy Ghost Box
  • Para-REM
  • ParaLight mini
  • Boo Buddy

Night #1

Melissa served French 75 cocktails to the spirits in Room 3 (Marie’s Suite)

Night one focused on Melissa’s investigation behind Marie Martin, a notorious madame who ran the brothel in the Palace Hotel.

She kicked off with a welcome cocktail hour with plenty of spicy gossip from the 1930s. Each guest got a French 75 bevvy and the gossip got more intense. Then, Jake heard a woman’s voice, and he felt something like a pin stabbing him in his ear.

After that, the different gadgets started to go bonkers, so Melissa stopped the cocktail hour to close a portal that may have opened in the room.

Night #2

Clara didn’t like having cameras in her face

On the second night, we had to squeeze in quite a few haunted hotspots. We started the night in Amy’s room (Room #10B) with Clara, the haunted doll.

Let’s just say Clara didn’t care for Jake shoving a camera in her face, and she got a little sassy.

Later on, Amy went into the hallway on the top floor, and Clara may have connected with the little boy spirit, Stanley.

After investigating with Amy, the ghost hunt shifted to Mike in Room #4 (Miss Claire). She was a famous prostitute, but the ghostly activity in the room is more for 2 male apparitions. We investigated for quite a while, but there was no activity. Well, more on that later …

For the final room, we went back to Marie’s Suite. Melissa got the chance to do a more traditional ghost hunt in the room with gadgets. Mike stopped by later to perform the Estes Method with Delco goggles.

Alas, nothing happened. However …

Overnight Personal Experiences

The next morning, Kim and Mike have experiences to share. For Kim, something woke her up at 6 AM. A spirit may have whispered in her ear!

As for Mike, something started turning the door handle at 3 AM AND he could hear a key chain jangling. Mike didn’t go check it out, but he would do that next time.

We found out the next day that there are ghosts in both rooms that interact with guests like Kim and Mike described.

Of course, it wasn’t all ghosts and gadgets. The club also spent some time seeing the sites, shopping for haunted objects (Amy, Mike & Jake did buy a few), finding strong coffee, and grabbing deeeelish food. The non-native Washingtonians even learned about Egg Creams and Purple Cows.

Check out the image gallery for a bit of the adventure.

Of course, Jake recorded everything with his cameras. A documentary will arrive in February 2025 with this adventure. Stay tuned for it!

Thanks for reading, watching and listening to Ghostly Activities. Much appreciated. Take care!

Note: Ghostly Activities Club paid for their rooms with their own money, so there’s no expectation of a good review by the hotel.
