Ghostly Activities presented at CariBOOcon in 108 Mile Ranch over the weekend of September 18th. Merle even came along (actually he drove me) from Vancouver.

I got to present on ghost hunting equipment. My presentations covered different types of gadgets, what they do, how to use them on a ghost hunt, what’s not so good about them, and if they’re worth your hard-earned cash. Check out the presentation below.
153 Mile Documentary Debuts
I also got to debut my new documentary with Merle and the Beyond The Haunting ladies. In this one, the team gets access to a bit of a time capsule, the 153 Mile general store. It hasn’t been opened to the public (and especially a ghost hunting team) in over 60 years. Once inside, the ghosts have some messages for the owner, Roger. You can watch it below:
An Environmental Change Captured During Mediumship Reading
Now this is interesting: During a public ghost hunt at the 108 Mile Ranch (a conference event), a tour member captured unexplained air pressure changes during an experiment. Merle and Corine, from Beyond The Haunting, came up with a new technique: passing a spirit candle around the group. If it went out in someone’s hand, she would provide a reading for that person.
In this case, the same tourist had the candle go out twice when it got to him. That’s pretty odd by itself.
Corine started to provide a mediumship reading for him when she said multiple spirits presented themselves to her. It overwhelmed Corine, and she cancelled the session.
As you can see in the image, the graph climbed while she passed around the candle and began the reading. It then plummeted when she called off the reading.
I can’t say I’ve seen anything like this before, and I’ve got to research more about environmental changes during a mediumship experiment.
The Ghost Hunts At 108 Mile
People lined up for the ghost hunts as part of the conference. Over 2 nights, about 100 people came by the 108 Mile Heritage Site to hear some history, open up an old building, and try to find some spirits.
We also got access to a few buildings that aren’t normally open to ghost tourists, like:
- The Clydesdale Barn (with its eerie catwalk and The Dude)
- School (a new stop)
- Church
- Telegraphy House (a new stop)
- Bunk House
- Ice House (a new stop)
- Post House (notoriously known as Agnes McVee’s hotel)
Overall, things were pretty quiet. It can take time for buildings to lure back their spirits, according to ghost theory: places don’t immediately have ghostly activity turn on when the door opens. Hopefully, places like the Bunk House and Telegraphy House remain on the ghost hunting tours.
My Overnight In The Post House
So … I got to sleep in the Post House. If you remember the 108 Mile documentary, Merle and Anthony recorded the name, Hemataus, which is a nightmare demon. That ended their investigation.
But I wasn’t so worried.
I recorded myself sleeping with some gadgets (a REM pod, Dead Bell and audio recorder) and an IR camera going. Nothing happened. It was a comfortable sleep.
UPDATE: Yes, something happened! Once I reviewed the video, I did capture ghostly activity. This evidence will appear in an upcoming (short) documentary on our night ghost hunting at 108 Mile Ranch Heritage Site.
Inside The Clydesdale Barn
Merle, Big Tex, Paisley (a psychic) and I got to investigate the barn again. Merle and I tried the Estes Method on that eerie catwalk … and things got interesting.
During the session, Merle wanted to run away but stayed. He could hear something screaming at him through the static and frequencies. As for me, it felt like something stomped on the boards all around me. Then, Paisley got visited by an unseen presence on the barn’s ground floor.
I’ll make a short, follow-up documentary for this night.
Overall, I had a great time with my old friends (Merle and Anthony) and new friends (Big Tex and Paisley). I hope to be back to the conference next year.
