A Spooky Road Trip To Salem, Oregon
Over the weekend of October 26th, Ghostly Activities headed to Salem, Oregon to see Amy Bruni’s Walking With Ghosts tour and have a little fun, too. See our adventures after the jump.
Haunted Theater Fun
On our first night, we got tickets to The Ghosts of the Grand, a haunted theater experience in downtown Salem, and followed it up with a trip to a speakeasy around the corner. We called it the spookeasy because we’re nerds.
It was a great way to take in the historic Grand Theater. The spooky experience went from the balcony to the basement with all sorts of jump scares in between. As we went along, Jake made friends with Bonnie, a killer child spirit, and Mother, who indoctrinated us into the malevolent Order (drinking Kool Aid and branding us, too).
Zena (Spring Valley Church) Graveyard
The next day, we headed to what remained of a ghost town named Zena. It’s really just a church and graveyard now. Fields have replaced what remained of the town. The church is in great shape, and it’s still in use today, and the graveyard is gorgeous with a lot of graves from the original settlers in the area.
Antiquing & A Haunted Doll
We also had the chance to visit some of the amazing antique shops downtown. Our favorite is EngelbergAntiks. This is the spot where we picked up a haunted doll named Clara. When we got back to our hotel, the group did a little investigating … and we got some interactions!

Amy Bruni’s Walking With Ghosts Tour
We ended the road trip with our mission: To see Amy Bruni’s tour!
It was held in the Elsinore Theater (also haunted), which looks like it belongs in a Disney movie. As for the show, it kicked off right on time. Amy provided a 90-minute spooky tour-de-force of her background, spooky adventures, and behind-the-scenes clips. She also had a collection of haunted objects.
After the show, we got to meet her. Jake had her sign his copy of her book, Food To Die For, and a t-shirt. Melissa had Amy draw a Tarot card and sign it. We got group photos with Amy as well as the ghost bread from Kindred Spirits.
And that was pretty much our adventure. Salem is a great small city about an hour south of Portland. I’m so happy that Amy got to come out to the Pacific Northwest. It’s rare for the ghost show folks to travel here.
Let me know what you think about our little adventure in the comments. If you’ve gone to Amy’s show, please tell us about in the comments, too!
