Keeping It Spooky since 2013

Haunted Expedition | Delphi Pioneer Cemetery in Olympia, WA

On January 22, 2021, Ghostly Activities visited Delphi Pioneer Cemetery to explore a possible haunting. Get the scoop after the jump.

Delphi Pioneer Cemetery Background

The cemetery opened in the 1890s and a United Methodist Church was charged with maintaining it. But the church simply ignored it and abandoned it in 2003. Local families, including the Keselburgs, took up the task (Hope 2017). Today, the cemetery is well-kept and easily accessible from Waddell Creek Road SW.

Delphi Pioneer Cemetery has an Olympia address, but it’s closer to Tumwater, a south suburb of the capital. It’s sandwiched between I-5 and Capitol State Park. You pass through swampy fields and bear crossings along the way. The Black Hills provide a backdrop as you head southwest of Downtown Olympia.

At the cemetery, Ghostly Activities used a MeterK EMF meter to check for anomalies and recorded an EVP session on a Zoom H1n handy recorder. There were no anomalies or EVPs captured. Nearby, you can hear Stony Creek flowing along its course.

Haunted expeditions are visits to suspected haunted places before a formal ghost hunt. There is less rigor in evidence collection. That’s simply because you want to see if a haunt has enough anomalies before committing to an investigation.
