There May Be A Monster In My Backyard
This just happened: Some kind of critter clawed at my dogs from behind a chain link fence. And I have no idea what that monster is. Get the scoop after the jump.

Attack Location
The next day, I went back to the spot and took pics so you can better understand the location.

Description of the beastly encounter

At 5 PM on Thursday, December 26th, I let 4 of my dogs out to play in the backfield. When I opened the gate, they took off for something in the southeast corner of the field. Roxy, a dark brown pitbull, got there first. She tried to push her head through the spot where the fence and a gate meet. That’s where the unknown critter swiped at her.
I didn’t get a good look at it, but, from what I could tell, it was about the same size as Roxy (approximately 65 lbs) with a light brown-or-orange colored fur. It didn’t have a tail that I could see. Also, it didn’t make any sounds other than the scrapping sound of its claws on the metal fence.
Once the other dogs got there a few seconds later, I could just see the brush moving as it skidaddled.
Neither Roxy, nor the other dogs, was injured by the encounter.
Shortly after I recorded the video, I grabbed a flashlight to see better. There were 2 paths in the brush that led to the chain link fence and door. As I patrolled the rest of the back fence, I found that one panel had been shorn off the posts. The section of fence is approximately 6-feet high and 8-feet long. The mesh had been secured by fence staples, spaced 1-foot apart. As for the posts, they are 4×4.
Anyway, I did see what looked like deer hoof prints in the ground by this section, so it was likely a deer getting a good scratch in and tearing off the section with its antlers. Still, that would have to be a strong deer. That panel was secured when I checked it earlier in the day.
I’ll keep you up-to-date if we have any more encounters with the Yelm Brush Monster, as I’m going to call it for now.

OK, I wasn’t able to get a clear picture of the monster, so I fed the details into a few AI image generators. This gallery shows you what I got.

If you’ve had a monster encounter, let me know about it in the comments.
Thanks for reading Ghostly Activities. Much appreciated. Take care!

The most plausible explanation for the monster is …. a mangy bobcat. But bobcats aren’t the size of 65 lbs dog. The research continues …
