True Ghost Story: Blue Island, Illinois
Michelle received an ominous message at the end of her pregnancy.
“I remember it to this day,” she begins. “I was 8-months pregnant with my first son. It just seemed like a nightmare, but I was awake.”
Michelle and her husband, Dick, had recently moved into a new home in Blue Island, Illinois. It was the winter of 1991.
“It was a Saturday afternoon. My In-laws were visiting and I had been cooking and keeping conversation with them all day. I was very tired, so I went into the bedroom to lie down. That’s when I felt the cold on my belly.”
She continues, “It seemed like I had closed my eyes for a few minutes, but this cold feeling woke me. When I looked up, I saw it.”
It was a being hovering right above her and reaching for her stomach.
“It looked like a statue, a Greek-type statue. It was gray, like marble, and had an expressionless face. I couldn’t see its eyes. They were blank. Its fingers were scraping my stomach – it felt like ice chips melting on me.”
Michelle screamed and the being vanished. Her husband and mother-in-law rushed into the room, but Michelle said it was a bad dream. But, she knew this was a message.
The being returned during the baby’s delivery. “I had a difficult delivery. The doctors thought my baby would die. His umbilical cord had wrapped around his neck and it was strangling him. The being was in the room. I could see it standing in the corner. It still had an expressionless face, but this time it was staring at Mark, my newborn son.”
Mark wasn’t breathing after he was delivered. He was just as gray as the being waiting in the room. Michelle never saw it move towards him, though. Instead, it waited patiently as the doctors and nurses fought to save Mark.
“As soon as Mark took his first breath, the being disappeared. I don’t know if it was my mind telling me something was wrong or something else. The thought of it still gives me the chills. Thankfully, my other two pregnancies were normal. Both were healthy boys.”
