Looking Back: A Ghost Hunt At Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery

February 25, 2025 Jacob Rice Comments 0 Comment

Back in January 2013, Ghostly Activities investigated Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery, an infamously haunted site near Chicago. Get the scoop after the jump.

Investigating The Cemetery

It was a surprisingly warm day (meaning above freezing) in Chicagoland, when Saleen and I drove out to Midlothian to check out Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery (BGC). BGC has a long and spooky history. It went from serving farmers, to being mobster body-dumping grounds (allegedly), to a party spot for teenagers, and finally a fully restored cemetery.

I think most of the tall tales are just urban legends that originated in the 1950s-1970s when Midlothian became a bustling suburb. And suburban teens like to spin a yarn about spooky places, especially an old, forgotten cemetery in the woods.

As for our ghost hunt, we didn’t capture any evidence. Saleen, a sensitive, barely got any impressions of spirits, and I got no beeps on gadgets, nor any phantoms on my camera.

But it was fun to see what the ghostly hype was all about.

I’m just happy that locals have helped to rehab the grounds and replace the headstones. When we investigated, that had just started to happen. I think if there are any spirits around, they’re now at peace.
