A ghost hunter gets a paranormal surprise during a bubble bath.

Yes, it’s true – I take bubble baths and I’m not afraid to admit to it. However, I don’t want a ghost to join me. Let me explain.

This event happened an hour ago (Noon PST). I came back a day early from a Thanksgiving trip, so I could clean up the house and take care of my dogs. After slogging through my chores, I put on a college football game (Iowa vs. Nebraska) and decided to do something I hadn’t done in a long time. I took a bubble bath. My dog, Wally – a German Shepherd, laid down on the bathroom floor next to me.

I picked up a book on ghost hunting, “Ghost Worlds” by Melba Goodwyn, because I wanted to use psychics more effectively on our ghost hunts. The book is a refreshing take on ghost hunting using humans as the measurement tools and not my trusty MEL EMF meter.

I got comfy in the tub and read a few chapters. In one of the later chapters, Melba wrote about opening yourself to receiving input from the spirits. Normally, I try not to get involved with psychic exercises, but I decided to try one from the book.

I rested the book on the closed toilet lid next to the tub. The spine was well bent, so it laid flat. It was copy-side down with the front cover and back cover sides facing up. I put my head back, closed my eyes and opened my mind to any input from the spirit world.

Things were quiet for a few minutes and then the bathroom lights flickered. Wally perked up his ears and gave a whimper. He stood up and left the room. Then, the lights flickered again. I heard a slight shuffling sound and looked at the book. Slowly, the book started to close. It stood up on its paper edges and fell over.

I jumped out of the tub, buck-naked and sopping wet, and grabbed my MEL meter out of my bedroom closet in the adjoining room. I hit the power switch, pointed it at the book and then new batteries went dead. The digital display showed 60 degrees right before it died. It was 72 degrees in the rest of the house.

I was a bit stunned. No spirits had ever randomly followed me home or visited when called. Now that I know they will visit when asked, I don’t know if I want them to do that (kidding).

I called my ghost hunting partner, Saleen, to go over the details you just read. I’m going to study ghostly invitations for future hunts. I usually leave that task to Saleen.

That’s the scoop for now.
